Jeb Busch Lite are an indie punk-rock band from Detroit, Michigan.
Formed by college friends Sophocles Sapounas (guitar, vocals) & JeremyWhiting (drums, vocals) in 2010 while they were roommates at Midtown’s legendary Hyesta & attending Wayne State University, Jeb Busch Lite have always imbued warmth, friendship & fun. Jeremy's longtime friend Christopher Gala (bass, vocals) joined in 2011 to finalize the three-piece.
A decade in the making, JBL’s debut album “Luxury Mids” includes both old favorites & completely new material; recorded by Drew Bartosik (Honeybabe, Alluvial Fans) & Soph’s brother Nicholas (Torus Eyes) at Reverse Release studios in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood on the west side.
Dubbed “the Original Hyesta House Band” - Jeb Busch Lite were instrumental in the creation of Whateverfest & played in Detroit for years before going on hiatus, finally regrouping in 2019 to work on new material & record their long-awaited debut album - “LUXURY MIDS”- which arrived on November 25th, 2021.
The second full-length JBL album “PRE POST” arrived worldwide on May 26th, 2023. The ”Pre Post” album was recorded at Reverse Release Studios (RIP Hybrid Moments) & on Elmwood St. in Detroit in 2022 & 2023.
Words from JBL: “During the creation of this record, significant cycles and seasons both ended and started. Beginnings, endings, and transitions were potent and constant during this project.”
This second Jeb Busch Lite record continues to evolve the band’s sound beyond slacker / stoner / skate rock & into even more experimental realms of indie punk with elements of all sorts of other genres & life experiences & clever lyrics & explosive moments throughout. JBL & Pre Post are great examples of how friendship & artistic expression & creativity can overcome uncertainty, tragic times & the hardships life constantly throws at us if we don’t give up on ourselves, each other, or our art.
