Justin Nelms is an accomplished musician and multimedia artist based out of Charlotte, NC with over 20 years in the music industry.
Under the creative umbrella known as MOONSIDE, Nelms has produced hip-hop beat mixtapes while simultaneously releasing weekly episodes of an investigative podcast called REC MY LIFE, which focuses on found analog audio tape experiences. Fiercely independent and with an unmatched work ethic, Justin is often able to create in a week what many artists cannot find the inspiration for in months.
Nelms’ eye and intuition for unique aesthetics have recently found him taking on the world of micro horror filmmaking. Here he concocts and films sublime visions where nightmarish characters such as BERYL THE CORPSE and the unsettling conceptual series DITHER IN THE DARK is a standout achievement.
Justin’s REVLMS mixtapes tether his all encompassing talent as an audio engineer, music producer, guitarist, and pianist. His work draws on an eclectic love of sounds and influences that range from electronica, R&B, pop, jazz, and soul. After winning a national beat making competition which showcased his versatility, Justin garnered the attention of industry legend Zaytoven. This resulted in collaborations with several standout talents like Trent the Hooligan, Andrew Huang, and Sangstaa, accumulating millions of plays worldwide as Nelms continued his troubadour's journey.
His talents in audio engineering and sound design led Nelms to serve as the composer and sound designer for the top 100 charting true crime podcast "Dark Water Podcast." He was also the lead engineer, producer, and composer for seasons 1 and 2 of the southern true crime podcast "It Awaits You."
