Remnose

Remnose is a four-piece indie rock group from Detroit, Michigan formed in 2013 by two brothers, Marlon and Carson Morton. Notes of alt-country and 90’s-era grunge spill out between soft guitar melodies and blood-tight harmonies. Powerful folk lyrics ride lush-yet-delicate waves of dream-pop swimming with smooth swells of lap steel, synth, warming bass and rambling rhythms. Garnering a name for themselves through endless shows in the Metro Detroit area, Ferndale, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and across the United States, the Morton brothers are joined by Alex Wildner and Sam Sparling, and formerly Vince Bashi.

Remnose is folk music with dried sand caked under its feet and some dirt flakes fringed beneath its fingertips. It’s psych-rock for the bleary dawn stagger, when there’s just enough ambient sunrise lighting the path’s forthcoming slope. It’s a whirl-pooling ambient pop expedition that doesn’t mind taking its time, or softening the center to spread outward some more cacophonous peripheries. I mean, I don’t really know what to call it... cause it sounds like this local quartet is following the woodland spirits to hard-to-find clearings and knolls where they convene some kind of refreshingly weird, genre-defiant sabbath.

MORE PRESS:

“What you hear is the band and their instruments without a lot of unnecessary fuss which is rather clever because actually there is much more going on here than it seems. Marlon has an easy and yet emotive voice effortlessly carrying tunes that lilt like a gentle breeze or an early morning iridescent sun glimpsed through the trees.”
